Friends Of Moore-Mickens

Moore-Mickens is currently under lease with the Pasco County School Board, and their mission is to create an education and vocational program to revitalize economically-challenged areas in Pasco County while making a positive difference in the lives of young adults.

Make a Difference has created the Friends of Moore-Mickens to help provide support and assistance in achieving their mission.

We feel that it is important to bring our community together. We are currently approaching individuals, corporations & other charities to become Friends of Moore-Mickens.

One of the programs it is currently offering is Phoenix Rising, which enables income-eligible participants to receive hands-on and classroom training designed to develop workforce skills that lead to employment. A key feature of the program involves construction of Habitat for Humanity homes for deserving families in Pasco Hernando County. Participants can earn their high school diploma as well as industry-recognized certifications while receiving weekly participation payments.

Since the program started in 2011 to current, 147 of the 157 Phoenix Rising participants have completed the program for a 94 percent graduation rate. Collectively, they have earned over 300 industry recognized credentials, just over 60 high school diplomas or GEDs and, to date, 138 have entered employment or enrolled into post-secondary programs.
